Our rigorous curriculum teaches students to translate their creative concepts into products which can be fully manufactured, and emphasizes analytical and interpretive skills, technical skills, production skills, and interaction with children. Core courses include the design and engineering of hard and soft toys, game and doll design, product safety, child psychology, motor learning development, computers, packaging, marketing, promotion and the business of toys. Our faculty are all industry professionals; team teaching, our primary method of instruction, introduces students to the industry-wide practice of teamwork.

"We train young designers to be on the cutting edge," says Toy Design Department founder and chairperson Judy Ellis. "We instill in them the maxim, Leap and the net will appear."
The Toy Design Department turns out socially responsible professional designers, who produce marketable toys that promote the development of the child.
